Basildon Council’s Basildon Skills Show is a careers fair connecting local students with employers, training providers and further-education routes. The Council needed a refreshed brand that would resonate with schools and young people, modernise the event’s look and feel, and improve recognition across printed and digital touchpoints—setting a stronger platform for outreach, attendance and long-term community engagement.
The brief was a full branding refresh to bring the Skills Show up to date and boost awareness. We were tasked with creating a new visual identity—logo, colour system, typography and graphic language—supported by accessible branding guidelines for consistent rollout by internal teams and partners. A key requirement was school-specific leaflets that felt tailored to each audience while remaining unmistakably “Skills Show.” We also handled print production to ensure quality and colour accuracy. Success would be measured by clearer recognition, easier adoption by stakeholders, and stronger engagement from students and schools.
We delivered a modern identity centred on bold, legible typography, a vibrant but council-appropriate palette, and a flexible logo system that scales from social tiles to large-format print. The brand guidelines cover tone of voice, layout rules, logo usage and examples for posters, socials and email headers—making consistent execution simple. For outreach, we designed and printed a suite of school-specific leaflets, each tailored with relevant pathways and messaging while retaining a cohesive look. The updated branding has given Basildon Skills Show a contemporary, recognisable presence, improving stand-out in schools and providing a clear toolkit for year-on-year growth.
